General: Finish on exposed aluminum shall be
compliant with the performance standards set forth in AAMA Specification
2604-98, “High Performing Organic Coatings on Aluminum”.
-
Type:
Factory-applied, high performance, 50% Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF)
coating based on Arkema, Inc. Kynar 500® or
Solvay Solexis, Inc. Hylar 5000®
resin, formulated by a licensed paint manufacturer, and applied by paint
manufacturer’s warranty-approved applicator.

Quality
Assurance:
a. All aluminum material painted same color on the job must be
painted by the same applicator, to ensure consistent color and appearance.
b.
Applicator must apply pretreatment using high-pressure spray application,
not dip application, to ensure thorough cleaning and pretreatment coverage
on the parts.
c. Painted material is inspected by dedicated Quality
Assurance person/crew to ensure specifications are met and visual
appearance is satisfactory.
d.
Applicator must have employees who are trained and experienced in field
repainting using ADS air-dry paints, to service any issues that occur
whether caused by applicator, manufacturer, or contractor.
e. Applicator must have climate-controlled paint booths, to
ensure paint is always applied between temperatures of 70-80 degrees F.,
to prevent premature solvent evaporation resulting in a rough paint
appearance.
f.
Applicator will have In-House Color Match computers and equipment
to ensure multiple phases or rework have proper color match and
consistency.
g. Applicator is on the AAMA Verified Components List. www.aamanet.org/pdf

Environmental:
a.
Applicator
must capture 100% of Volatile Organic Compounds in its application
process, and convert them to harmless emissions via an oxidizer or
equivalent device.
b.
Chrome pretreatment equipment to include wastewater treatment facilities,
to guarantee no more than 0.5 ppm (parts per million) of chrome emissions.
c.
Applicator
must be fully compliant with all applicable environmental regulations,
which can be verified on EPA’s ECHO website.
