Six Sigma is a
highly disciplined approach to decision making that helps people
focus on improving processes to make them as near perfect as
possible. Six Sigma is attempting to improve both effectiveness
and efficiency at the same time.
Thanks to the
efforts of Linetec Black Belts, Green Belts, and associates
involved with Six Sigma projects, we have again achieved greater
accomplishments than required by Apogee and our share holders.
For the fourth year in a row, we are on pace to achieving the
Apogee Chairman's Award for meeting criteria set by Apogee
that recognizes a company for exemplary performance in the area
of Six Sigma/Lean initiatives.
The term "Six Sigma" relates to the number of mathematical
defects in a process. Six Sigma practitioners focus on
systematically eliminating the defects so they can get as close
to "zero defects" as possible.
Some of the world’s
largest companies – including GE, Bank of America, Honeywell,
DuPont, Samsung, Starwood Hotels, Bechtel, and Motorola – have
used Six Sigma to achieve considerable improvements in business
performance, in everything from products to processes to complex
systems and even in work environments. These companies have
paved the way for making Six Sigma deployable through large
networks of Champions, Black Belts, Green Belts, Yellow Belts
and Process Owners.
