Architectural Paint Types

Linetec is a fully approved and licensed applicator of PPG, Valspar and Akzo Nobel, the leading manufacturers of high-performance architectural fluoropolymer (PVDF, Kynar) coatings.

Linetec offers a variety of architectural paints including 70% Kynar 500, which meets the AAMA 2605 specification, 50% Kynar coatings, which meet the AAMA 2604 specification and baked enamels which meet AAMA 2603.

70% PVDF (Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000) coatings offer the ultimate protection in building performance. These finishes exhibit outstanding resistance to humidity, color change, chalk, gloss loss and chemicals. These sustainable coatings will ensure a long-lasting, durable finish. No other coating system can withstand the rigors of nature and time like those based on the Kynar 500 resin.

70% PVDF coatings include standard color two-coat systems, consisting of a primer and color coat. Two-coat mica systems, also consisting of a primer and color coat. Three-coat and four-coat systems for metallic and exotic colors. These systems include a clear top coat and sometimes a barrier coat.

The clear top coat is an essential component of three and four coat systems. It provides added protection against ultraviolet, humidity and chemical attack. A clear top coat is required for bright/exotic colors and all colors containing metallic flake.

50% PVDF (Kynar or Hylar) coatings offer an intermediate coating. This finish provides good color and gloss retention. It also offers good hardness and abrasion resistance, making it a good choice for storefront, doors, or other high-traffic areas.

50% PVDF coatings include standard color two-coat systems and two-coat mica systems, both consisting of a primer and color coat.

Baked enamel coatings are harder than PVDF coatings and are often used for interior application where color retention, chalk, fade and weatherability is not required.

Baked enamels are generally a one-coat system as no primer is required. In this process the color coat is applied directly to the aluminum.

Mica's & Metallic's

Metallic paint coatings can add a unique vibrancy and visual appeal to your project. Their lively appearance is caused by the way visible light is reflected off of the metallic flakes.

Be aware that the same qualities creating depth and brilliance can also cause variations in appearance within a project or even within a single part. Specifically, metallic's can have variations in the level of brightness, i.e. dark and light areas.

The reflective property of the metallic flakes means that the same metallic painted surface will look different depending on the viewing angle, the angle of the light source (e.g. the sun), and the intensity and type of the light source.

One-of-a-Kind Linetec Spattercoat

Spattercoat custom finishes offer multi-color, depth, and texture. Spattercoat can mimic marble, stone, brick and other textures. The pant spatters can be many or few, large or small, thick or thin. speckled or swirled.

Spattercoat is achieved by first painting the under coat color over the entire exposed surface. The material is then spattered with the remaining color(s) to give it a 3D effect.

Spattercoat options are endless.. Besides simulating natural, earthy and artificial surfaces, this spattercoat process offers the opportunity to create a truly unique, personalized building. We can keep within your prescribed color palette to maintain corporate identity or match school colors.

Two-tone painted extrusion

Two-Tone Paint

Two-tone finishing is the process of painting one side of the material one color, then masking it off and painting the other side a different color.

Linetec can provide two-tone finishes for extrusion and flat sheet. Flat sheet must be two-toned on separate sides, two tone finishing on one side cannot be done.

Two different paint types may not be compatible on the same profile; both paints require equal baking temperatures. When paints bake at different temperatures, one color risks burning peeling, or discoloration.

Two-tone finishes may not be warranted if the paints are not compatible or if they are from different vendors.

Dimensioned die drawings are necessary, which specifically indicate the interior and exterior exposed surfaces.

A straight line for split finish when colors are touching cannot be guaranteed.
