LINETEC ACTIVATES NEW "FLAT LINE" FINISHER

(WAUSAU, WI, ATLANTA) Paint and anodize finisher Linetec has announced the addition of a fully-automated, 4-side extrusion paint finisher for Polywood® products (polymer wood substitute) and plastic materials.

Scott Platta, Senior Vice-President of Linetec's Polywood Program says, "It's one of just a few machines in the country that can handle 4-sided, single-pass finishing." Featuring a patented, Linetec-proprietary application process, the machine automatically paints and bakes 4-sided material in one pass.

Platta says the machine is highly efficient and provides a dramatic improvement in finish quality, with tangible benefits to the customer. "Other flat-line units use spring clips to rack and handle material. These left marks at each end that customers had to cut off, representing 1% to 2% of material waste. Now that waste is eliminated."

The new flat-line machine is capable of producing harder, more mar-resistant finishes and greater finish options due to the unit's improved bake capabilities. Employing forced air and infrared heat to set finishes, along with a cooling stage in the process, materials emerge ready for handling and stacking. Platta says, "The dramatic improvement in finish consistency means the customer experiences far fewer defect-related redo's in their assembly process."

Initially, the flat-line machine will be used mostly for Polywood® high-grade, custom interior shutters.  President of Linetec, Rick Marshall states "This unit opens new market options for Linetec. With potential applications from fencing and decking material to vinyl windows and a wide range of plastic and composite product, we're expecting considerable growth in this side of our business."
